Course Guide

Hole_7To guide you round our challenging links course our members have produced a brief description of each hole.

This is not a full course guide but is intended as a "course map" to make it easier for visitors to navigate their way around what is an unusual and slightly quirky course layout. The white tees are for competitions only, therefore unless you are playing in a competition men should play from the yellow tees. Ladies always play from the red tees.  The stroke index for ladies is shown in brackets

Although Hythe is designated as a 9-hole golf course it has 12 greens and 18 tee positions. 5 greens are on the clubhouse side and 7 on the far side.

Yellow flags indicate the front nine and red flags the back nine. Those greens played twice have a yellow and red diagonal flag.

All references to left or right are taken from the tee facing towards the green.

The towpath for the Royal Military Canal runs the entire length of the land side of the golf course. It is a public footpath and a popular walk. Players must give consideration to people on the towpath.

The rough on both edges of the course are deliberately kept long, deep and uninviting. This is to protect the road and the canal from wayward shots. Any ball landing in these areas is likely to be lost. Particularly as the permitted search time has now been reduced to 3 minutes.

Practice facilities are available on the practice fairway, the chipping green and the putting green.
